Negril, Jamaica is one of the more laid back, interesting places I’ve ever visited. With one of Jamaica’s best beaches, the area is a well known place among foreigners but has managed to keep its character throughout the years.
Jamaicans have a beautiful attitude about life. They are laid back and enjoy the smaller things in life. Non- confrontational, the people here have an interesting understanding of ‘respect’ that keeps society moving in an orderly fashion. Jamaicans are proud of their island. On a side note, this is the first time I’ve been in a predominantly African Caribbean society.
My friend Joe has many Jamaican ‘brothers’ who have taken us around during the day and night. I’ve been privileged to meet a fair share of Jamaicans and have really gotten to know them well. Last night, I was chatting with a nice girl from Kingston who to my surprise has never left the island of Jamaica and was on the western side of the island for the first time in her life. I exchanged my experience of traveling for some advice on the best Jerk Chicken stand in Negril. It’s amazing how many different tastes, plates and spices are found here in Jamaica that are first-time experiences for me. I love it and I hope to find a place that serves Ackee and Saltfish in NYC that’s comparable to the food here.

I love this photo – looks absolutely beautiful. Reminds me of this place in Dubrovnik, Croatia I went to that, although significantly smaller, was also a bar carved into cliffs on the edge of the town where locals and some travelers (like me) go cliff jumping in front of the customers. The colors of the ocean and sunset look phenomenal!
