UnitedStatesColoradoAspenOverview

United States, Colorado, Aspen, Scenic View

This view is from Red Mountain on the south side of Aspen, Colorado.  Although much of Colorado is currently on fire, the Aspen valley seems to have gotten its fair share of rain.  Ajax mountain is the ski hill just off the main part of the city.  Aspen is truly a paradise in the mountains. I think what makes Aspen such a magical place (aside from the great city and mountains) are the wonderful Aspen trees that surround the area.  White as snow, these tree trunks glow in the summer time as sun hits the horizon.  Also in the fall, the leaves on these deciduous trees change to a yellow hue, which starkly contrasts the dark green of the pines on the mountainside.  It’s a spectacular sight to see. ‘Mile High Ice Cream’, United States, Colorado, Denver, Highland Neighborhood, Little Man Ice Cream Stand

Denver’s a great city.  It has a young, progressive feel to it.  The downtown is big, but not overwhelming. With a great view of the Rocky Mountains in the background, it’s no wonder that a lot of my college and high school friends (and even my sister) have moved out to this great city. Denver’s location always amazes me.  When you drive in from the east, you see nothing but endless fields for as far as the eye can see.  Then as though a tsunami disrupted a tranquil, endless sea,... ‘Maroon Bells,’ United States, Colorado, Aspen, Maroon Bells Sunrise

I just recently purchased a medium format camera (FUGI GX617 Panoramic).  Why would I purchase a film camera?  My knowledge and understanding of light has gotten better over the years, but having a digital camera with a ‘processor’ built in has made me somewhat lazy and stymied my understanding of light to a certain extent.  Traveling throughout the western United States and attempting to capture huge landscapes  has taught me that I need  to upgrade my understanding of light. What better way than through a manual, medium format film camera? Nothing is... Read The Rest →

In 2009, the median house or condo value in the state of Colorado was  $273,000.  The median value in 2009 for Aspen Colorado was $873,000.  It’s no surprise that Aspen is expensive to live in.  This mountain gem is situated in the Rocky Mountains and could be one of the most picturesque and pleasant places to live in the world. I think Aspen is wonderful to visit in the summertime.  Because of its elevation, the area experiences cool evenings and warm, sunny conditions almost every day.  Biking, fishing, hiking, running,... ‘Abandoned’, United States, Colorado, Steamboat, Countryside

My father and I left Steamboat Colorado late in the evening on our way to Denver the other night.  The ascent into the mountains is quite steep and the air becomes quite cool.  The valleys in the mountains just south of Steamboat are beautiful with streams running in every direction.  We spied an abandoned cabin just off the road, just as the sun began set behind the horizon.  I knew my time to capture this photo was limited so I ran out of the car and into the field as quick...
