‘Phone Booth’, United States, New York, New York City, Union Square Telephone Booths

Does anyone use a pay phone anymore?  It’s amazing to me that these still exist, however, I would be saddened by their removal.  There’s something about their lonely look that makes me notice them every time I walk by the booths in Union Square.  When they’re not being used as a urinal stahl, they’re actually quite artistic. ‘Into the Mist’, United States, New York, Minnewaska State Park

I took a trip to the Minnewaska State Park on a day the weather wasn’t looking to be all that good. It’s a case in point, never not go out because of the weather. It’s the dramatic weather that usually creates some of the best photographs. A dousing of rain overnight turned the forest into a green, moss-like wonderland. Spring is in the air. Share → Tweet

‘Automobiles Not Permitted’ United States, New York, Fire Island, Seaview

One of the more attractive areas of Long Island is a place called Fire Island.  This barrier island runs south of, and across a bay from, the south shore of Long Island and is much more secluded than other popular Long Island summer destinations, such as the Hamptons.  Fire Island is accessible by ferry only, and as a result, automobiles are non-existent on the island.  A bicycle is the preferred mode of transportation on the small streets that make their way along the quarter of a mile wide island, passing... ‘The Long and Winding Road’, United States, New York, Catskill Mountains, Kaaterskill Valley

I heard a lot of ‘life analogies’ on my trip.  One of them I overheard while I was in Cambodia.  The gentleman at the bar, maybe in his mid 60s, was recalling his life journey to a young Irish couple who had just arrived in Phnom Penh.
