Ayn Rand’s book, “Atlas Shrugged”, always comes to my mind when I see this statue.  Carrying the weight of the world – it can’t be easy.  The statue, located at Rockefeller Center, is an iconic landmark in a city where people come to pursue their dreams.  America still deifies (as we still should) these innovators who have gone above and beyond to pursue their dreams and visions.  Just look at the memorials at any Apple store after the recent death of Steve Jobs.  Jobs once said, ‘I’d rather be a pirate than join the navy’.  Ayn Rand would have adored Steve Jobs for his never- ending pursuit to accomplish what he believed in.  He is the John Galt of our era – one of society’s most productive citizens and it’s simply because he followed his dreams.
