Well, this wasn’t the shot I was expecting when I decided to head over to the Brooklyn Bridge last night. I was walking home earlier that evening and noticed a storm off in the distance. The city’s lights naturally light up a cloudy sky at night and I thought the spotty storm would make for some interesting clouds. I got to the bridge, set up my tripod and realized lightning was striking every 2-3 minutes. So I took 3 exposures, as I always do and took off my bracketing. I then proceeded to sit there and wait for a hint of lightning and snap a shot, 2 second, neutral exposure. I caught one perfectly as you can see. The sky’s color is a result of my magenta filter. I forgot my holder so I had to sit there and hold it while I waited for the lightning to strike. Good times. The shot turned out better than I could have ever imagined! Photography is way too much fun.
